Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine combines R&B, soul gospel and jazz in the style that is his own. Avery Sunshine has performed on Broadway and at festivals in Europe as well as her appearance at the Democratic National Convention. Sunshine Her real name was Denise White. Her birthplace is Chester Pennsylvania, where she began her music career singing and playing the piano at church. She was a student at Spellman College in Atlanta where she started her journey into music in the city's R&B scene. Jennifer Holliday (a Grammy and Tony Award winner) was approached for an opportunity to be the director of the choral section of Dreamgirls in Atlanta during the National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine was the subject of national media attention due to her several performances throughout the Democratic National Convention in 2008. She was invited to perform at the inauguration of President Obama in 2009.
